Felix Rosenqvist has credited working with Ross Bunnell, Scott Dixon’s former race engineer, for making him “hungrier” for further success in the IndyCar Series. Bunnell, an American engineer who played a pivotal role in Dixon’s achievements since 2023-including five race wins-transitioned to Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) at the start of the 2025 season. This move came as part of a broader technical alliance between MSR and Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR), which resulted in several key engineering staff moving from CGR to MSR.

Rosenqvist, now in his seventh IndyCar season, spoke to IndyCar.com about the positive impact Bunnell has had on his performance. The Swedish driver emphasized that, despite his experience, Bunnell has introduced him to new ideas and approaches, fueling his desire for greater accomplishments. Rosenqvist stated, “Ross (Bunnell) has done a phenomenal job. He’s a really good engineer, and he brings a lot of knowledge. He’s taught me a lot of new things this year, even in my seventh year. I feel like we’re hungry and we’re definitely getting better and better”.

During Bunnell’s tenure with Dixon, the duo achieved three race wins and a second-place finish in the championship in 2023, followed by two more wins and a sixth-place championship finish in 2024. Since joining MSR, Rosenqvist has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 season, finishing all three races in the top 10 and currently sitting fourth in the championship standings. Notably, he secured fifth place at Thermal and improved to fourth at Long Beach.

Reflecting on MSR’s progress, Rosenqvist noted significant changes within the team since the CGR partnership began. He believes that the technical alliance has helped MSR translate strong qualifying performances into consistent race results. Rosenqvist commented, “Last year we had a lot of DNF’s, which were mainly technical issues, to be honest. I think last year we probably belonged in the top eight. This year, it feels like we’re a little bit better. It’s a trend of the year. I think last year we had really good qualifying results, and we tended to move rearwards in the races. And this year we’ve been really good in the races”.

In the opening race of 2025, Rosenqvist and teammate Marcus Armstrong qualified third and fourth, respectively, and both have maintained strong qualifying and race performances at subsequent events such as Thermal and Long Beach, consistently finishing in the top 10.
The article underscores how the arrival of Ross Bunnell, combined with the technical partnership between MSR and CGR, has revitalized Rosenqvist’s drive and contributed to a promising start to the 2025 IndyCar season.
