Kansas City, May 3, 2025 – The WWE community is in shock after the explosive events of the last episode of Monday Night Raw, where Gunther, known as “The General Ring”, unleashed his fury against commentators Michael Cole and Pat Mcafee. The attack, which included a strangulation to McAFEE after trying to defend Cole, has generated an immediate Triple H reaction, creative director of WWE, who according to internal sources gave Gunther a strong message behind the scenes.

The incident occurred in the April 21 edition of RAW, after Gunther, furious for losing the World Heavyweight Championship against Jey use in Wrestlemania 41, confronted Cole for his comments during the transmission. When Mcafee intervened, Gunther subjected him with a Sleepper Hold, leaving him incapacitated to continue the broadcast. This led to an indefinite suspension and a fine for Gunther by the general manager of RAW, Adam Pearce.

However, the drama did not end there. In the RAW of April 28, Mcafee, from the top of the commentators’ table, delivered a passionate speech, challenging Gunther to a fight at WWE Backlash on May 10 in St. Louis. Nick Aldis, acting as an interim general manager, confirmed the meeting, raising Gunther’s suspension for the occasion. But what has captured the attention of fans is the intervention of Triple H after the initial attack. According to Wrestling Inc. reports, Triple H met with Gunher in private and warned him that his behavior will not be tolerated, but he also gave him an opportunity to redeem himself in the ring against McAFEE, provided he respects the company’s rules.
The Triple H message, although not revealed in its entirety, would have included a warning on the consequences of future acts of indiscipline, along with a recognition of Gunther’s potential to be one of WWE’s biggest stars. Fans speculate that this confrontation in Backlash could be a turning point for both, with McAfee seeking revenge and Gunther trying to recover their domain after the defeat in Wrestlemania.
