Kyle Larson is preparing for a very busy May 2025, highlighted by his second attempt at the grueling “Memorial Day Double” – racing in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. This effort is branded as the #Hendrick1100, presented by Prime Video, which is also sponsoring both his No. 17 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet IndyCar and No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet.

Larson’s 2024 season was impressive, with six NASCAR Cup Series wins leading the field, but he missed the Championship 4 due to the playoff format. He earned the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honors in 2024 after a strong debut, though a late penalty dropped him to 18th place. His first attempt at the Double was thwarted by rain delays at Indianapolis and the Coca-Cola 600 being cut short before he could race.
For 2025, Larson unveiled fresh paint schemes for both cars and is confident going into the Indy 500 again, having gained valuable experience last year. He is preparing for the hybrid IndyCar systems and aims to complete both races fully this year. Despite a crash during an IndyCar test session in April 2025, Larson was unharmed and remains optimistic about qualifying and racing at Indianapolis.

Prime Video is also producing a feature-length documentary about Larson’s pursuit of the Double, directed by Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Cynthia Hill. The documentary will cover Larson’s 2024 and 2025 attempts and is scheduled to stream next year.
Larson’s May schedule is packed, including sprint car races, NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series events, and IndyCar practice and qualifying sessions. Notably, if he qualifies for the Fast Six at Indianapolis, he may have to skip that session to race in the NASCAR All-Star Race due to timing conflicts, prioritizing the All-Star Race for its prize money.
Overall, Larson embraces the challenge of racing so much, crediting his physical fitness and active lifestyle for managing the demanding schedule. He aims to improve on last year’s near-miss and fully complete the 1,100 miles of racing on Memorial Day weekend, a feat only a few drivers have attempted multiple times.
